“Marketing is really just about sharing your passion.” – Michael Hyatt
On the most basic level marketing is about sharing your passion, however, it can sometimes become much more confusing than that. SEO, PPC, CTV, and other acronyms can get in the way of sharing your passion if you don’t understand what they mean or how to make them work for you. Leave all that confusing stuff to the professionals and take these six strategies that anyone can do to improve their marketing and put them to work for you!
Recycle Content
The first step in moving forward with your marketing is going backwards. Many businesses have years of marketing materials in the achieves. Sift through these materials and pick out the best blogs, social posts, and posters and recycle them back into use. If they were good enough to use once, they are good enough to use twice!
Cellphone Video
In 2020 nearly every single person under the age of 70 has a high-definition video camera in their front pocket. Whip that thing out of there and take some fun videos to post on social media. It might not be professional grade but for social media that sometimes is best.
Steal It
Please, don’t actually go and began to steal things, but stealing the premise for an idea is more than okay. T.S. Eliot once said, “good writers borrow, great writers steal.” Don’t go and poach an exact idea from somebody but if you can take an idea as inspiration, turn it on its head, and create something unique out of it, all the power to you!
Photo Contests
People love to share photos on social media, this is especially true about their kids and dogs. Take advantage of this by hosting social media photo contests and have them tag you in their posts. Throw in a small giveaway to drive engagement and you’re in the driver’s seat to look at cute babies and puppies all day!
Follow the Trends
What the internet decides to make viral is an algorithm that may never be possible to solve. Why a man drinking cranberry juice from the bottle, riding a skateboard, and singing Fleetwood Mac is the most popular thing on the internet I will never know. What I do know is that it’s a trend and using these trends to your advantage is something everyone can do to stay “hip” as the kids say.
Time to Retire
We all know the one professional athlete that doesn’t know when it’s time to hang it up (cough, Brett Favre, cough). Sometimes a campaign has run its course and it’s time for a refresh. That is when you give us a call at Midwest Marketing and we help you create something new and wonderful!
